Rudra AI · Chrome extension
Privacy Policy
Summary: Rudra AI is a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) assistant. Your API keys and chat history stay on your device unless you send content to an LLM provider you configure. Browser and folder access only happen when you use those features and approve permissions. We do not sell personal data.
1. Who we are
Rudra AI (“the extension”, “we”, “us”) is a Chrome browser extension operated by Rakesh Raja. This policy explains what information the extension processes, where it is stored, and what is sent to third parties.

2. What Rudra AI does
Rudra AI is a side-panel AI assistant for Chrome. It can chat with models you configure, read and interact with web pages when you use Browser or Agent modes, access a local project folder you explicitly pick, and show an optional sponsored message strip in the extension footer. Core features work without creating an account with us.
3. Information stored on your device
The extension uses Chrome storage on your computer. Depending on how you use it, this may include:
- Provider settings — names, API base URLs, API keys, model lists, and related preferences you enter.
- Chat sessions — conversation history, tool activity, snippets, macros, and project instructions.
- Jobs and schedules — watch/schedule rules you create inside the extension.
- Extension preferences — mode, permission settings, theme-related UI state, and similar options.
- Ad cache — recently fetched sponsor creatives and a short event queue if analytics cannot be sent immediately.
- Anonymous install ID — a random UUID generated on first use to count ad impressions and clicks without using your name or email.
- Country code cache — a two-letter country code (for example
IN) cached for up to 24 hours for ad reporting.
API keys are stored in chrome.storage.local on your device. We do not operate a central server that
receives or stores your API keys.
4. Information sent to AI providers (BYOK)
When you send a message, the extension transmits the content needed to complete your request to the LLM provider you configured (for example OpenAI, OpenRouter, DeepSeek, or a local Ollama endpoint). That typically includes your prompt, relevant conversation history, page context you include, and tool results.
Those providers process data under their own privacy policies. You choose the provider and control which API key is used. We are not responsible for how third-party model hosts handle your data once you send it to them.
5. Browser access
With your permission, Rudra AI can access browser capabilities such as:
- Reading visible page text, links, tables, or structure when you use Browser or Agent tools.
- Clicking, typing, navigating, scrolling, and taking snapshots of pages you ask it to work on.
- Listing, focusing, and managing tabs.
- Using Chrome’s debugger interface for reliable input on some sites (Chrome may show a “debugging” banner while attached).
- Buffering recent console or network events for debugging when those tools are enabled.
This access is used only to perform actions you request in the extension. We do not continuously collect browsing history in the background for profiling or resale.
6. Local folder access
In Agent mode you may grant access to a folder on your computer through the browser’s File System Access API. The extension can read, search, and write files in that folder only while permission is granted. Folder handles are not guaranteed to persist across browser restarts until you pick the folder again.
File writes that may be risky can require your confirmation inside the extension before they run.
7. Sponsored footer content and analytics
The extension may show a small labeled promo strip at the bottom of the side panel (for example “Sponsored” or partner messaging). To load creatives and measure performance, the extension may:
- Fetch public ad configuration from Google Firebase / Firestore (
rakesh-adsproject). - Resolve an approximate country code via partner.rakesh.in (IP-based geo lookup on the server; only the country code is cached locally).
- Record anonymous impression and click events with: slot ID, ad ID, event type, timestamp, extension identifier (
rudra), install ID, and country code.
Sponsored links open in a normal browser tab. Affiliate or commercial relationships may apply and are disclosed in the extension UI where shown. Footer promos do not block core features.
8. Other network requests
- Model listing — when you refresh models, the extension calls your configured provider’s API.
- Quota or balance — some providers expose usage endpoints; the extension may call them if supported.
- Feedback — if you use the in-extension feedback option, it opens your email client or WhatsApp; we do not receive a copy unless you send it.
9. Permissions we request
Chrome permissions are used as follows:
- storage — save settings, chats, and caches locally.
- sidePanel — show the assistant UI.
- tabs / activeTab / scripting — browser tools and page interaction.
- debugger — reliable click/type automation on complex sites.
- alarms / notifications — scheduled jobs and alerts you configure.
- host access (<all_urls>) — run tools on pages you work with across sites.
10. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not require an account to use the extension.
- We do not inject ads into web pages you visit — promos appear only inside the extension panel.
- We do not store your API keys on rakesh.in servers.
11. Data retention and deletion
Data in chrome.storage remains until you clear it from extension settings, uninstall the extension, or
clear extension data in Chrome. Uninstalling Rudra AI removes locally stored extension data from your browser profile.
Anonymous ad event records stored in our ad backend are kept only as long as needed for reporting and fraud prevention.
12. Children’s privacy
Rudra AI is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
13. International users
The extension is operated from India. If you use Rudra AI from another country, your information may be processed on your device and by third-party providers or services you connect to (including LLM hosts and Firebase), which may process data in other regions under their own terms.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this page when the extension changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
